Christmas Tree Lighting on Wiscasset Common

Join the Wiscasset Community for Christmas carols and a visit from Santa on the historic Wiscasset Common at the southern end of the Village. As the darkness descends, celebrate the lighting of the town Christmas tree with song, hot cocoa, and good cheer. Festivities begin around 4pm.

Teddy Bear Sleepover at the Community Center

In 2016: Starting at 6pm, parents dropped off their children at the Wiscasset Community Center, 242 Gardiner Rd., for swimming, movies, pizza, and games! Through Saturday morning breakfast. K - 6th grade. $25 with required advance registration. 207-882-8230

A fun collection of retailers offering fine crafts, jewelry, specialty foods, custom aprons, and hand-made gifts. Midcoast Conservancy hosts at 23 Water St.

In 2016: A holiday breakfast buffet at family-friendly Sarah's Cafe! Elves do the serving and every child knows that elves have a direct line to Santa!  7:30am to 10:30am. $8 children (12 and under), $12 adults. Make your reservations at 207-882-7504.

Buffet includes: Christmas Cinnamon Ring, biscuits & muffins, farm fresh eggs, freshly smoked ham, cheesy breakfast potatoes, veggie frittata, buttermilk pancakes with Maine maple syrup, cocoa and holiday fruit punch . . . and more!

 

Santa's Workshop at the Library

In 2016: Friends of the Library helped children shop - without their parents - for special friends and family! From 9am to 2pm, the Wiscasset Library, 21 High St., was transformed into a special version of Holiday Marketfest with affordable gifts for children to purchase. Gracious elves, in disguise as grown-ups, guided the children in their selections and took care of on-site wrapping. 

Fritz the Reindeer-dog, a very gentle Newfoundland with antlers, posed for photos with children.

Downeast Brass, noon to 3pm, throughout the Village

In 2016: The five musicians, from southern and central Maine, who make up the Downeast Brass, are experienced musicians and music educators. Their range is broad - from classical to Dixieland, from parades to weddings.  For Wiscasset Holiday Marketfest, musicians played holiday favorites on sidewalks and in shops. Downeast Brass always entertains with their original programming.  (sponsored by Red's Eats, Norm's Used Cars,Wiscasset Ford, Greg's Used Cars)
